ExpenseMonkey started in March 2024 because every other expense tool was built for a finance team of four hundred, then sold to a finance team of four.

Our co-founder Jaro spent years in consulting watching small businesses lose their Sundays to "enterprise" software — receipts entered one by one into category trees nobody understood, then forwarded to an accountant who'd ignore most of it anyway.

Matthieu came at the same problem from product and engineering, leading teams at earlier-stage tech companies where the pattern was just as obvious: small teams don't need more features. They need fewer reasons to procrastinate.

So we built the thing we wanted to use — fast, mobile-first, AI where it helps, and priced for teams that don't have a procurement department.
